The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have issued 3,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates in an all-inclusive draw. Candidates must have had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 483 to qualify.
In an all-inclusive draw, candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) are considered.
This draw comes after the previous one held on April 12, where 3,500 candidates received invitations to apply (ITAs) in an all-inclusive draw. The candidates required a minimum CRS score of 486.
The April 12 draw had only half of the number of candidates invited in the draws that occurred on March 15, March 23, and March 29, where each draw invited 7,000 candidates every two weeks. Also, it increased the minimum CRS score from 481 to 486. The size of the draw and higher CRS score is more in line with previous draws seen in 2022 and early 2023.
March marked some milestones in Express Entry, with over 21,000 ITAs issued in a single month. This was the second-highest number of ITAs issued in the history of Express Entry. The highest number of ITAs issued in a month was in February 2021 when 27,332 CEC candidates were invited in a single draw.
The first draw in March for 7,000 candidates was the largest-ever all-inclusive draw. The subsequent two draws repeated this number, with a total of 21,000 candidates invited in two weeks and a monthly total of 21,667 ITAs issued. The remaining 667 ITAs were issued in a March 1 draw that targeted only Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates.
Overall, there were four Express Entry draws in March, one each week, which was unusual because draws typically only occur every two weeks on Wednesdays.
Express Entry is an application management system created in 2015 to evaluate and rank candidates from three of Canada’s economic class immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
Candidates from these programs are highly skilled and likely to economically establish themselves in Canada. Express Entry uses the Comprehensive Ranking System to evaluate candidates based on human capital factors such as work experience, occupation, language ability, and education. The candidates with high scores are more likely to receive an ITA in an upcoming Express Entry draw.
If a candidate receives an ITA, they have 60 days to submit their final application for permanent residence to IRCC. An immigration officer then reviews the application and decides if the candidate is approved for permanent resident status.
